Philadelphia’s tech scene is buzzing as ten startups are named finalists in the 2025 Philadelphia Regional Startup World Cup Pitch Competition. The event highlights some of the region’s most innovative companies and gives them a platform to showcase their ideas on a global stage.
The competition is organized by the Philadelphia Department of Commerce and Temple University, with Temple's Office of the Vice President for Research, Fox School of Business’s Innovation and Entrepreneurship Institute, and the Office of Institutional Advancement serving as the university's co-hosts.
The ten finalists for 2025 are:
- AiraLux Medical – developing devices to improve post-surgery respiratory therapy.
- AltruMed – creating wearable technology to detect opioid overdoses.
- BioLattice Ophthalmics – focused on repairing damaged corneas through tissue engineering.
- MyMonitor.ai – using artificial intelligence to enhance patient monitoring systems.
- Sahay AI – providing AI-driven solutions for mental health support and therapy.
- Sync Labs – innovating laboratory technologies.
- UfarmX – offering AI and blockchain solutions to help smallholder farmers in Africa optimize farming practices, access financial services, and connect to markets.
- VasoWatch – developing wearable devices to monitor vascular health.
- WealthMore – providing tools for smarter wealth management.
- Win Win Coffee – a social enterprise promoting sustainable coffee production and trade.
Among the finalists, UfarmX stands out for its Temple University connection. Founded by Fox School of Business alumnus Alexander Zanders, the company helps farmers in Africa improve productivity and adopt climate-smart practices. UfarmX has received $2,500 and support from the Digital Innovation Fund to expand and further develop its platform.
