Josh Gladden, PhD

Professor of Physics
Dr. Josh Gladden is Temple University’s Vice President for Research and has served in that role since 2023. He is the spokesperson for research divisions which work to facilitate research and research funding as well as providing support for all funded projects at Temple. The Office of the Vice President for Research promotes a model of service while pursuing research for the benefit of the university, state, and nation. Dr. Gladden has led university-wide efforts to promote and facilitate interdisciplinary research teams and innovative research policies.
He joins Temple after serving as Vice Chancellor for Research and Sponsored programs at the University of Mississippi, Associate Vice Chancellor for Research and as the Director of the National Center for Physical Acoustics. He also served as the Vice President for the Acoustical Society of America from 2020 to 2023.
Dr. Gladden holds a PhD degree in physics from the Pennsylvania State University with a focus area of Experimental Condensed Matter; BS and MS degrees in physics from the University of the South and the University of Montana, respectively, and was a post-doctoral fellow in Mathematics at The Pennsylvania State University.
