Mandatory Training

On July 17, 2025, the National Institutes of Health (NIH) issued Notice NOT-OD-25-133. Beginning October 1, 2025, all NIH-funded institutions must ensure that faculty and researchers designated as Senior/Key Personnel receive training on their obligation to fully disclose Other Support (active and pending), as outlined in the NIH Grants Policy Statement.

To help our researchers prepare, Temple is rolling out the requirement in phases:

Available Now
Researchers may complete the CITI Research Security: A Basic Course at any time. NIH has confirmed that this course, developed with NSF, DOE, and DOD, will satisfy the training requirement.

Coming Soon
The Office of the Vice President for Research (OVPR) is developing an internal NIH-specific training module focused on Other Support. Once released, completion of this module will be required for all Senior/Key Personnel.

We encourage researchers to take the CITI Research Security: A Basic Course now, as it will count toward meeting federal expectations. Details about the university’s internal NIH-specific training, including format, launch date, and instructions, will be provided when available.
