Research Compliance

The Office of Research Compliance (ORC) reports to the Office of the Vice President for Research (OVPR) and manages, supports, and oversees the implementation of, and compliance with, and training related to, applicable federal laws, regulations, and institutional policies to ensure Temple research is conducted safely and ethically.

The committees supported by this office include the following.

Human Research Protection Program

All research involving human participants and/or private identifiable information must be reviewed and approved by the IRB.

Institutional Animal Care & Use Committee (IACUC)

Research with animals to be conducted at Temple, must be reviewed and approved by the IACUC.

Institutional Biosafety Committee (IBC)

Reviews research involving recombinant DNA and synthetic nucleic acid molecules, infectious agents, hazardous drugs and materials.

ORC also oversees all research security and research integrity matters at Temple University.

Encompasses mandatory disclosure of external activities, export controls restrictions, cybersecurity requirements, and protections against foreign undue influence.
